Anthony Edwards Wins Major Child Support Battle as Georgia Judge Sides With NBA Star

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards has secured a significant legal victory in his ongoing child support dispute with Ayesha Howard after a Georgia judge ruled that the case would be decided in Georgia rather than California.

According to court documents, the judge ordered the NBA All-Star to pay $3,222 per month in child support for the former couple’s 1-year-old daughter. The ruling marks the latest chapter in a legal battle that has stretched across two states and centered on where the case should be heard.

Judge Rules in Edwards’ Favor

The court determined that Georgia—not California—was the proper jurisdiction for the child support case. Edwards had argued that Howard had no legitimate ties to California and alleged that she filed her case in Los Angeles in hopes of securing a larger child support award.

The judge ultimately agreed with Edwards’ position, bringing the matter under Georgia’s jurisdiction.

Previous Payments Considered

Court records show that Edwards has already made substantial financial contributions toward supporting his daughter. Beginning in January 2025, he reportedly made an initial payment of $20,000, followed by monthly payments of $5,000 leading up to the trial.

In total, Edwards has paid approximately $110,000 in child support before the court issued its final ruling.

Ayesha Howard Absent From Trial

According to the court documents, Howard did not appear at trial and did not present evidence supporting her claims regarding child support. The judge specifically noted her absence when issuing the decision.

The court also listed Howard’s reported monthly income as zero, while Edwards continues to earn one of the NBA’s highest salaries.
